We took a Holland America cruise tour to Alaska this year.  We were joined by our San Diego friends Nancy and Lea as well as Nancy's sister Billie.  We flew into Fairbanks where the temperature was a warm 84 (29 Celsius).  After Fairbanks, we took the McKinley Explorer luxury train to Denali Park.  After Denali, we took the same train to Anchorage and took a bus to Seward to board the Holland America liner Statendam for an 8 day cruise.
